Upgrade and refurbishment

Around the world, there are many ageing hydropower assets. It is often more economical to upgrade or refurbish these ageing assets than to replace them completely.

Well-managed upgrades and refurbishment can significantly improve performance with lower capital costs and downtime than may be incurred for complete replacement.

Because Entura deals with the challenges of keeping ageing infrastructure running on a day-to-day basis, we appreciate the complexities of older technologies and the need for cost-effective, workable solutions to maintain and refurbish existing infrastructure.

We have applied this knowledge to help our clients in the Asia-Pacific region to minimise project time, costs and project-related risks. We can provide expert advice about maximising energy production and efficiency, increasing reliability and availability, reducing operating costs and extending the life of assets.

Entura’s experience and knowledge of ‘whole of life’ asset management and refurbishment gives us the ability to consider asset management for our clients during all phases of plant life, from planning to replacement and upgrade.

Our capability in upgrading and refurbishing hydropower assets and our experience in outage management draws on our ongoing day-to-day involvement with the extensive portfolio of hydro power stations and associated assets built and maintained over the last 100 years by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest producer of renewable energy.

Our experience in monitoring, inspection and testing gives us the edge in identifying issues early and recommending strategies to overcome them, saving our clients time and money in the future.

Our services include:

  • plant condition monitoring, testing and inspection
  • maintenance optimisation and integration services
